Define the role

A light balloon may work as a visual landmark, atmospheric feature or genuine light source. The required brightness, membrane and position depend on that role.

Choose the scale

Diameter is assessed against viewing distance, ceiling height, circulation and the desired visual hierarchy. Several sizes can create a richer composition than one dominant volume.

Plan the lighting

Define the required white or coloured light, brightness and control method with the production team. Equipment and compatibility with a show control system are confirmed for the chosen configuration.

Engineer the installation

Suspension, telescopic stand or floor placement each require specific attachment, stability, power and public-safety planning.

Colour and installation in practice

White LED and RGBW options serve different visual roles. DMX or remote control may be available for the chosen configuration; power, compatibility and the operating plan are confirmed for the project. Suspension, floor placement and support stands each require their own installation assessment.

The Tylko Berlin installation shows a suspended RGBW sphere in warm and red settings. Its colour photographs illustrate the effect, rather than specifying a lighting output for another venue.

Colour and control

RGBW stands for Red, Green, Blue and White. These light sources allow different colours and atmospheres according to the lighting configuration. DMX can control variations, colour changes and synchronisation when the project equipment supports it; it is not required for every installation.

The observed colour depends on the membrane, ambient light, viewing distance and, where relevant, the camera and filming conditions. For a demanding brand colour, a trial in the actual or a representative setting is recommended. The result should be assessed in context rather than assumed from a colour reference alone.
